Larissa (la 'ree sa) LaRenne is a classically-trained New York actor, schooled in both The Meisner Technique and Strasberg's Method. She started studying theatre as a child and eventually earned admittance into the state's School for the Arts, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and finally, the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. Her theatre studies and stage training helped her land her first professional film role at age 11 and membership in SAG, AFTRA and AEA.
Larissa continued pursuing film & television roles, cutting her acting teeth on NY's independent film scene. After several short stays in Los Angeles during junior high and high school, earning roles on Commander in Chief, E.R., City Guys, MTV's Undressed, and Once & Again, she relocated to sunny Southern California.
She recently graduated with top honors from UCLA's prestigious School for Theatre, Film, Television & Digital Media with a B.A. in Theatre, summa cum laude. She was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, served as President of the National Mortar Board College Senior Honor Society, received the Chancellor's Service Award, and earned membership in the Golden Key International Honour Society. She also earned a Cinema Production Certificate as well as an Associate's Degree in Cinema, graduating summa cum laude with a 4.0.
Larissa wrote and directed the animated short film, "Artificial Hearts". She has written numerous stage plays, including Strange Anatomy, Party to a Lie, Birth Order, and Glass & Sand. She was selected as a featured playwright for the west coast premiere of The Headphones Tour for the Los Angeles Theater Center's production of Lot Sand Found. She is currently developing the screenplays Pavane and Legacy, along with an original web series.
Now based in Hollywood, Larissa divides her busy schedule between auditions, writing, and her production companies, Film Force and Capricorn Rising Productions. She studies acting with Catlin Adams and still manages to find time to compose music on the piano.
Her commercial work can be seen in campaigns for Dr. Pepper, Nike, US Cellular and Hallmark. You can also spot her playing basketball for charity on the Hollywood Hoopsters celebrity basketball team!
