      Facts & Trivia

  • Larissa  (la 'ree sa) is Russian for "Little Lara", named after a character in her mom's favorite film, Dr. Zhavago.
  • Larissa was born in New York City on Labor Day.  Her parents still joke that she should've been born on Independence Day!
  • She learned to read music before she could read words; she started studying both the harp and the piano at age 4!
  • She trained at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC and The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute as a child.
  • In addition to bearing the famous initials "LL", Larissa has another comic book connection: comic book writer Deric A. Hughes named a character after her while writing Living in Infamy.

Larissa LaRenne is a classically-trained New York actor, schooled in both The Meisner Technique and Strasberg's Method.  She started studying theatre as a child and eventually earned admittance into the state's School for the Arts, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and finally, the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.  Her theatre studies and stage training helped her land her first professional film role at age 11 and membership in SAG, AFTRA and AEA.

Larissa continued pursuing film & television roles throughout junior high school, cutting her acting teeth on NY's independent film scene.  After several short stays in Los Angeles during high school, earning roles on E.R., City Guys, MTV's Undressed, and Once & Again, she decided to move to Southern California.

Now based in Hollywood, Larissa divides her busy schedule between auditions, film school, and her new production company, Capricorn Rising Productions.  She is a currently studying theatre and playwriting at UCLA's prestigious School for Film, Television & Digital Media and is a member of the executive board of the National Mortar Board Honor Society.  She has earned an Associate's Degree in Cinema, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA,  and earned a Cinema Production Certificate.  She wrote and directed the short film, "Artificial Hearts", which can be seen on YouTube.  She continues to study acting with veteran coach
John Homa, and still manages to find time to compose music on the piano.

Her work can be seen on stage at L.A. Theatre Center's Lot Sand Found, as well as in commercial campaigns for Dr. Pepper, Nike, US Cellular and Hallmark.  You can also spot her in person, playing basketball for charity on the Hollywood Hoopsters celebrity basketball team!
